The Infinite Profile-

Renato Bertelli was an Italian Sculptor who designed a bust of Benito Mussolini, Il Duce, head of the Italian Fascist Party.

His statute,  ‘Profilo Continuo’ made in 1933, intended to propagate Mussolini’s self-publicity of the time, which presented him as a technological and cultural pioneer. In addition, the idea of continuity as an endless portrait depicted the power and ubiquity of the dictator.

Even though this sculpture is not well known, and had no impact on art history, I use it as a reference to create sculpture prototypes of the most influential men related to the digital revolution. Far from Mussolini ideologically, these famous entrepreneurs hold something in common with him, his ubiquity, power, and obsession with technological developments.

Busts of the 10 most influential men in technological companies were made: Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Google), Bill Gates (Microsoft), Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak (Apple), Chad Hurley and Steve Chen ( Youtube ), Mark Zuckerberg ( Facebook ) Jeff Bezos ( Amazon )  and Pierre Morad Omidyar ( eBay ).
